Pakistan Premier Imran Khan kick started the country’s monsoon tree plantation campaign by planting pine tree saplings in Nathia Gali, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, on Saturday.
Imran posted photos on his Twitter account, in which he was seen planting pine tree saplings in the scenic tourist resort of Natia Gali, KP province.
Prime minister once again urged the nation to fully participate in monsoon tree planation drive, turning Pakistan into a green country.
Recently, the prime minister had also posted pictures and videos of swaths of land in Matta town of Swat Valley and Bhakkar city; converted into green chunks of land owing to the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami and Clean, Green Pakistan initiatives.
“The greening of Pakistan is meant for future generations,” he maintained in one of his twitter post.
In his previous tweets, Imran had been consistently motivating the citizens, especially youth, to actively take part in the country’s biggest tree plantation campaign.
He also made references to the monsoon tree plantation campaign under his government’s much ambitious 10 Billion Tree Tsunami project and Green and Clean Pakistan initiative.
I want all Pakistanis, especially youth, to gear up for the biggest tree planting campaign in our history. We have a lot of catching up to do, Imran had said in one of his Twitter posts.
“And we will be gearing up this monsoon season for our plantation drive – the biggest in Pakistan’s history,” he further added in a related tweet.
Imran said that Pakistan is among the 10 most vulnerable countries with regard to global warming.
"The country must play its part in saving the world from global warming," the PM said, urging to grow more national forests, increasing the number of trees and investing in urban forestry.
In another past tweet, he had expressed his strong resolve to leave ‘a clean and green Pakistan for future generations’ of the country.
