Al Fardan Jewellery has revealed the Ramadan Capsule, a necklace created in collaboration with Sheikha Alyazia Bint Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and Sheikha Hamda bint Khalifa bin Mohamed Al Nahyan. The jewellery piece was unveiled at an opening ceremony of Al Fardan’s new flagship boutique in Nation Towers Mall, Abu Dhabi.
The Ramadan Capsule aspires to embody Islamic motifs and provide a legacy for the contemporary Emirati woman. The medallion that was chosen as a hero piece of the collection, is adorned with Sheikha Alyazia Bint Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan’s personal handwriting.
It encompasses religious prayers offered during the Holy Month of Ramadan. “The capsule — aptly named “With Relatives” — is reflective of Ramadan’s spirit of bringing families together, sharing positivity and the art of gifting,” says Al Fardan Jewellery. It pays tribute to early Islamic traditions, where it was common to say “hidden” prayers; the engravings aim to reinforce the message of the prayers, acting as protection.
“The theme of light is broad and continuous, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan,” says Sheikha Alyazia Bint Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. “Traditional mosque lamps, in combination with intricate tile-like aesthetic, give a form to light. This is materialised by the use of Arabic letters on the double-sided piece of jewellery.”

Sheikha Alyazia’s artistic vision is well-projected and celebrated through her artworks that capture elements of her heritage and modernity. “Through this art,” she says, “I wanted to shed the light on the traditional culture and produce an art piece that represents the preservation of Emirati pride, individuality and identity in an ever-changing globalised world.”
The design has been immaculately executed; both coral and malachite are stocked in the medallion. The vision behind the colour scheme derives from luminosity and Islamic tradition, and the intricate engraving of the medallion is inspired from Andalusian tiles and floral motives. It extends to the design of the hook, holding the pearl and coral beads. Playing on the idea of jewellery versatility, the pearl tassel can be removed or added; the necklace has been crafted in a contemporary design, with a sense of tradition.
And what better way to celebrate Ramadan than with these personalised gifts that have been customised by handcrafted packaging by well-known Emirati calligrapher and designer Narjes Noureddine!
Noureddine delivers her artwork in different forms, ranging from classical calligraphy plates, to modern paintings, murals and sculptures. She has created murals for Emaar’s Boulevard Plaza Towers and Arady’s Central Park Towers in DIFC, among other high-end projects.
With time, Sheikha Alyazia Bint Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan’s collaborative journey will evolve further, as there are future plans to extend the collection by adding additional high end and daily wear jewellery items. The vast variety of traditions and cultures of the Islamic Empire of Faith has inspired the creation of an exquisite panorama of jewellery. Some pieces are based on traditional techniques and materials using bronze, silver, and semi-precious stones, while others are created using precious metals and gems, utilising the most sophisticated tools and techniques of the time.
Meanwhile, celebrating the official inauguration of the flagship boutique, Iulia Al Fardan, General Manager of Al Fardan Jewellery, said: “We’ve designed the store as a truly immersive experience that reflects Al Fardan’s lineage and our philosophy of celebrating life’s most important moments – we look forward to welcoming visitors to explore and enjoy.” “We are very delighted to offer our valued customers the newest retail shopping experience for high-end jewellery.
