DUBAI: Sheikh Mansour Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai International Marine Club, attended the Chinese New Year Grand Parade at City Walk in Dubai on Friday.
The Chinese New Year falls on Feb. 5.
The Pointe at Palm Jumeirah is celebrating Chinese New Year with majestic Dragon Boat races, traditional music and dance, and lively performances on Feb. 1 and 2.
The venue saw jam-packed crowds on Friday.
Visitors enjoyed a spectacular display of culture and heritage as boats raced across the turquoise waters of The Pointe. Fifty teams took part in the race, which formed part of the celebrations at Dubai’s stunning new waterfront dining and entertainment destination.
Dubai Police also celebrated the New Year. Police teams escorted revelers across City Walk in Dubai. Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Chairman of the Events Committee, oversaw the security and safety at the event.
Chinese New Year marks the beginning of the Chinese Spring Festival and lasts for around 23 days. In China, fireworks mark the start of the festival, heralding peace, prosperity and good health.
