DUBAI: Dubai Civil Defence controlled a fire in a yacht in the Dubai Creek. The incident caused no human casualties.
According to a source from the Civil Defence, teams from four centres rushed to scene immediately on receiving the tip off by the Operations Room at 5.30pm alerting a fire in a yacht in the dockyard opposite Hyatt Regency in the Dubai Creek.
The source added the yacht contained tires and petroleum materials, which helped to speed the fire, stressing that the incident did not result in any human injuries.
The competent authorities started investigation into the causes of the fire.
Recently, the firefighting squad of the Civil Defense in Ajman doused a fire that erupted in a residential flat located in the industrial area.
No casualties were reported, confirmed Lieutenant Colonel Raed Obaid Al Za’bi, deputy director of centers management.
The Civil Defense’s platform at Ajman Police had received a tip-off reporting that an apartment had caught fire in the new industrial area, Al Za’bi said.
“Immediately, the squad of firefighters rushed to the fire’s location accompanied by the ambulance and the police.
“Upon arrival, the civil defense teams evacuated the residential building from all tenants for their safety, while the firefighters extinguished the fire with water, and no injuries were caused,” he added.
He called on residents of buildings to evacuate them immediately when hearing the alarm and use emergency exits close to their flats.
He also urged them to ensure the safety of electronic devices and electrical installations periodically, in addition to the requirements of safety and maintenance of manual fire extinguishers.
Al Za’bi further noted that investigations are still underway to find out the circumstances and the causes of the fire.
