FUJAIRAH: The Court of Misdemeanors Court in Fujairah looked into the case of three Asian defendants, including a builder accused of public fund dispersal.
The first and the second defendants who work for a construction company allegedly connived to sell scrap equipment belonging to the company secretly. The second who worked as a guard for the company and the builder held deal with the third one to buy part of the equipment.
The third one attended the warehouse by night, where the other two were waiting for him. The operation was completed and no one noticed absence of equipment.
They dared to repeat the same act several times, until they raised around Dhs60,000 from sale of such equipment. whsuspect noted that large quantities of expired construction equipment were found in one of the company’s facilities and agreed with the second defendant, the guard of the facility, to sell the equipment.
The theft had been discovered, when officials of the company conducted an inventory. They noticed the disappearance of many of the old equipment listed in the establishment’s record. Thus, an investigation was carried out which led to find out that the guard and builder were behind the embezzlement. The defendants confessed to robbery before the prosecution.
In another story, Dubai Police have arrested an Asian after video clips circulated on social media showing him snooping on cars in Jumeirah and arousing fears among the residents, said Colonel Faisal Al Qasim, Director of Security Media Department at Dubai Police.
The police arrested the man on Monday and would be referred to the authorities concerned for further legal measures against him, Al Qasim added.
He explained the accused used to work for a contracting company and his sponsor had filed an absconding report against him.
Stressing Dubai Police’s keenness on maintaining the security and safety of the society, Al Qasim called on the public not to circulate such clips on social media as they would arouse the fears of people.
