RAS AL KHAIMAH: The Ras Al Khaimah Police announced they found the body of an Asian in his fifties in Ras Al Khaimah Creek on Monday.
According to Brigadier Abdullah Mankhas, Deputy Director General of Police Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters, the operations room received a report at 6.30pm that the body of a man was found in Ras Al Khaimah Creek. The authorities rushed to the scene and found that the corpse had been decomposed.
Preliminary examination showed that the man was an Asian in his fifties and died a day before. The Public Prosecution ordered the forensic medicine section to complete the medical examinations to determine the cause and time of the man’s death.
Court jails murderer
The Abu Dhabi Court of Cassation overturned the verdict against an Asian, sentencing him to 3 months in jail, paying Dhs200,000 in Diya and another to two months in jail.
The defendant, an illegal resident working for a non-sponsor, premeditatedly murdered another.
The Public Prosecution previously charged the defendant with premeditated murder after he stabbed the deceased with a knife on the right side, under his stomach aiming to kill him. He was also charged with illegal residency, after his visa expired and for getting a labour visa without a sponsor’s and Residency Department’s approval.
The Court of First instance first sentenced the suspect to seven years in jail, to be followed by deportation, for killing the deceased. He was obligated to pay Diya to the heirs of the deceased.
The court sentenced him to one month in jail and deportation for illegal stay, and one more month in jail for working for non-sponsor, to be followed by deportation.
The court obligated him to pay the case fees, Dhs10,000 which will be paid by the treasury of the judiciary.
