SHARJAH: The Sharjah Police Commander-in-chief, Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi receieved a delegation from the General Command of the Armed Forces at the Sharjah Police Directorate.
Al Shamsi welcomed the visiting delegation members during the co-ordinated meeting that was held to discuss the means of co-operation and co-ordination between both parties.
At the close of the meeting, a commemorative shield was presented by Al Shamsi to the visiting delegation, recognising and praising the security co-operation between the Ministry of Interior and the Armed Forces.
The delegation was headed by Brigadier General Hassan Mohammed Bin Hamad, who was accompanied by Salim Ali Al Kitbi, and in the presence of Brigadier General Dr. Ali Salim Al Tunaiji, Deputy Commander of the Special Security Forces of the Ministry of Interior, Colonel Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, Director of the Central Operations, among other senior officers of the Sharjah Police.
Recently, the Sharjah Police have busted a gang of five African nationals who attacked and robbed an exchange shop located in Al Ta’awun area, Sharjah. The gangsters reportedly attacked the shop, threatened the employees and stole sums of money of different currencies that amounted to over Dhs2 million.
This was revealed by Al Shamsi, during a press conference held on Sunday at the GHQ of Sharjah Police.
In the details, Colonel Ibrahim Musbah Al Ajel, Director of CID at Sharjah Police, indicated that the operations room received a tip-off reporting a robbery of an exchange shop committed by a number of persons believed to be African. Immediately, a competent team from the CID led by director and another team from the Crime Scene Department from Al Buhairah Police Station rushed to the location of the robbed exchange shop, Al Ajel added.
He said, “Through the preliminary information collected at the scene, it was found out that five persons believed to be African nationals stormed the shop, broke the glass barrier between the shop’s employees and the customers, threatened the employees and snatched all they money they had before fleeing to an unknown destination.”
The security teams instantly initiated the investigations into the incident to identify the assailants, prosecute and arrest them, he added.
