An inebriated man forcibly groped a masseuse in the public after which he ran after her until inside a ladies salon, a jury heard on Wednesday.
The Asian defendant –a storekeeper, 32- breached the modesty of the Thai woman, 34, outside a ladies salon in the Dubai International City at around 6pm on Feb.22, she complained to the Rashidiyah Police Station.
He showed up and grabbed her chest. She managed to push him away. He approached and tried doing the same. She fought hard to keep him at bay. He clutched her arm and shoved her onto the ground, records showed.
Besides the breach of modesty charge, prosecutors additionally accused him of assaulting the woman in a manner that she ended up abandoning her duties for several days. They also accused him of illicit consumption of alcohol.
In prosecution records, the woman narrated that she was standing in front of the salon where she worked as a masseuse when the defendant showed up. “He was abnormal. I think he was under the influence of alcohol.
“He suddenly grabbed me by the chest. I pushed him away but he returned and tried to grab me the same way. I was struggling to keep him away when he seized my arm and forcibly pushed me to the ground,” she complained.
She said she shouted for help and a female colleague came to her rescue. She escaped inside the salon.
The defendant pursued her inside. Her friends held him back as he relentlessly shouted that he did not fear the police.
He later managed to free himself from their grip and run away before police could arrive. The woman complained that she sustained injuries on her left arm and pains in the other besides a contusion on her back. She went to Rashid Hospital for treatment.
Prosecutors demand the toughest punishment applicable in this regard. The defendant reportedly confessed during prosecution interrogations. The ruling is expected on May 5.
