Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Tolerance, delivered the opening speech of Al Khaleej annual conference in its 19th edition at the premises of the Dar Al Khaleej for Press, Publishing and Advertising in Sharjah on Saturday. The conference was themed “Emirati Women…Status and Empowerment.”
Sheikh Nahyan said the Al Khaleej annual conference has become an important cultural event and embodies the national belonging that it leads.
Sheikh Nahyan added, “Today we express our feelings for the late Taryam brothers for their distinguished role in our great contributions to the march of journalism and community service.’’
Sheikh Nahyan highlighted, “Emirati women play a prominent role in deepening the values of tolerance and peace among all, and have a full opportunity to work and achieve the highest positions in society, political and economic life and in all fields.
“Emirati women are a pioneering model, and they have a strong loyalty to the teachings of religion, the nation…, and they enjoy full legal and societal equality, all of which would not have been possible without the wise leadership and the great founder who taught us that women are half of society.”
Sheikh Nahyan also added, "Talking about the status of women is a talk of continuous accomplishment, and I am honoured by all of you for greeting and respect and great thanks to Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU) and what she is doing in order to enhance the position of women in society...”
Khalid Abdullah Omran Taryam, Chairman of Dar Al Khaleej, also addressed the conference. He praised the role of Emirati women in the UAE.
Khalid Taryam congratulated the winners of thw Taryam and Abdullah Omran Press Award. He said that honouring is proof that the press is fine and goes on to wider horizons of responsibility and professionalism.
