His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday received at Qasr Al Bahr the participants in the meetings of the International Council on Archives and Forum of National Archivists.
Sheikh Mohamed expressed hope that the meetings will be a steppingstone for ensuring robust synergy in preserving and recording humanitarian heritage and promoting dialogue and knowledge transfer as well as exchange of expertise in applying best practices in the field of archiving and documenting the national psyche.
“The importance of archiving lies in its central role in preserving national psyche, while recording people’s history and providing a sound basis for the future,” said Sheikh Mohamed.
The participants expressed their appreciation for the UAE’s hosting of the meetings and the country’s eminent role in protecting and documenting human history.
Attending the meeting at Qasr Al Bahr Majlis were Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region; Suroor bin Mohammed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation; Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Transport, and a number of senior officials and UAE citizens.
The participants’ delegation included David Fricker, President of the International Council on Archives, as well as top archivists from Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Canada, UK along with Dr. Abdulla M. Al Raisi, Director General of the UAE National Archives.
The National Archives is hosting on April 27th - May 3rd the preparatory meetings for International Council on Archives 2020 Congress which occasion inspiring strategic talks and presentations focused on topics of great interest for national archivists, in the presence of high-profile speakers and keynotes, interactive sessions, discussions and networking opportunities aimed at building capacity in addressing 21st Century archival challenges.
Camel Racing Team
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yeserday received, at the Qasr Al Bahr Majlis, the Presidency Camel Racing Team, in the presence of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, accompanied by Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President, was briefed by the team about their successes in five major festivals this year.
The team won 32 medals at the Saudi Crown Prince’s Festival, the King Abdulaziz Camel Racing Prize, the Dubai Crown Prince’s Festival, Al Wathba Festival and Al Marmoum Heritage Festival.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed praised the team’s performance and efforts while stressing that the sport of camel racing has a significant historic and social value to the UAE.
Human Fraternity Meeting
Sheikh Mohamed yesterday received at Qasr Al Bahr Majlis the organising committees and team of the Human Fraternity Meeting, which convened in Abu Dhabi in February in the presence of Pope Francis and Grand Imam of Al Azhar Dr Ahmed Al Tayyeb.
Sheikh Mohamed praised the efforts made in ensuring the success of the historic meeting, affirming that the UAE will always remain an oasis of peace and goodness that promotes stability and security the world over.
The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince lauded the teamwork spirit maintained by the organisers and their tireless efforts to reflect the prestigious status enjoyed by the UAE as a global peacemaker.
