75-year-old citizen dies in tragic road accident

A 75-year-old citizen was killed on Wednesday morning due to severe injuries which he sustained due to a collision on a road in Ras Al Khaimah. The deceased was on his way dropping his 14-year-old daughter to school. The daughter and the driver of the other vehicle, a 20-year-old citizen reportedly sustained injuries.
Colonel Ahmad Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Department at the General Directorate of Central Operations in RAK Police General Command, emphasised the importance of strict compliance with traffic regulations and the directives of the authorities.
Major Salem Bourguiba said the police Operations Room received a tipoff at 7.40am on Wednesday reporting a traffic accident on a RAK road.
He added the police patrols, ambulances and rescue patrols immediately rushed to the scene.
The dead body of the deceased was taken to the hospital while the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The accident file was referred to the authorities to complete the legal proceedings.
Bourguiba stressed that the department was intensifying internal and external road controls, especially near schools, to prevent traffic congestion and to enhance the flow of traffic during peak times.
Recently a vehicle was gutted in a collision between three vehicles in Abu Dhabi due to the driver not leaving enough distance and not focusing on the road, said Lieutenant Colonel Gaber Saidan Al Mansouri, Head of Accident Investigation Department, Abu Dhabi Traffic Department.
The Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations Command and Control Centre received a tipoff on Sunday on the collision. Civil Defence teams, ambulances and police patrols instantly rushed to the scene and handled the incident promptly.
Mansouri called on motorists to commit to safe driving and attention, and to abide by traffic laws and rules to avoid traffic accidents, to preserve the safety of road users.
The management of impounding yard of civilian heavy and light vehicles in the emirate of Dubai has been privatised and will be operated by Emirates Parking Company with an estimated budget of Dhs20 million annually, the Dubai Police announced recently.
This came as part of a partnership agreement signed by Dubai Police and the Company on organising the transporting, impounding, managing and guarding of light and heavy civilian vehicles required to be impounded in the emirate of Dubai.
