Four people were killed and a fifth sustained minor injuries in a collision that involved two vehicles in Al Nasseriya in Al Ain. As a result of the collision, one of the vehicles overturned and hit a lamp-post causing the death of the driver and his companion. The other vehicle hit two women while crossing the street from a zebra crossing at the collision scene.
According to Brigadier Salem Al Dhaheri, Director of Al Ain Traffic Department, the preliminary investigations showed that the accident took place when the two drivers started racing in the street, noting that one of the vehicles added accessories and add-ons, which led it to hit the other car and its driver to lose control.
Al Dhaheri called on road users to abide by traffic rules and regulations and not to add accessories that increase the speed of vehicles.
The Al Ain Command and Control Centre at Abu Dhabi Police received a report on the accident on Wednesday. Police patrols and Ambulances rushed to the scene of the collision and transferred the injured man to the hospital.
