457,154 Dubai drivers get 25% discount on traffic fines

457,154 Dubai drivers who have abide by traffic rules in the last three months received 25 percent discount off their traffic fines.
The discount is part of the traffic settlement initiative, launched by Dubai Police on Feb.7.
Maj-Gen Mohamed Saif Al Zafin, head of the federal traffic prosecution and assistant commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police said, "This traffic settlement initiative began in the second quarter of this year on the basis of several social, traffic, security and humanitarian dimensions."
The initiative has ease financial burdens on the defenders and also made it easy to maintain security and safety on the road, he added.
He said, "The initiative aims to enhance traffic safety and raise the level of compliance with traffic laws and spread awareness among drivers. The culture of traffic safety will contribute to achieving the strategic objectives of the traffic departments and patrols and also reducing traffic accidents."
Brig Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director of the Dubai Police traffic department said, within the period of February 1 to May 1, traffic violations have reduced significantly.
