Russian child suffers from rare disease that is turning him into a real-life stone statue

A two-year-old Russian child, Tim Pavlenko is suffering from fibrodysplasia, a genetic disorder in which muscles, tendons and ligaments get replaced by bone, that has turned him into a living stone statue.

According to The Siberian times, Doctors said the Stone Man syndrome, scientifically known as progressive fibromyalgia affects one in two million people.

Svetlana Pavlenko, mother of Timofey (aka Tim), said, "Timofey is our youngest child. He was born in good health, and the only thing worrying was that his toes were slightly bent, and the doctors said that it was not a problem. At that time we did not know that it was the first sign of the Stone Man syndrome.

Big lumps eventually appeared on different parts of his body, limiting his ability to move. That alerted the doctors and he was sent to Moscow for treatment, she added. Tim family’s is from Krasnoyarsk, Siberia.

A group of supporters are working on raising money for Pavlenko to get her child treated by leading experts in the world.
