The teenage son of Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) senior leader Qamar Zaman Kaira died in a road accident along with his friend on Friday evening, police said.
According to the details, the incident took place in his hometown near Lalamusa, Punjab province, when his vehicle was moving at high speed and rammed into a tree, resulting in fatal injuries. The deceased was the student of Government College Lahore.
Kaira was informed in a press briefing in Islamabad about the death of his son, Usama Qamar (18).
Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed deep grief over the death of the son of Kaira.
In a statement, the prime minister sympathised with the parents faced with the tragic loss of their young child.
He also prayed for courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.
“Absolutely heartbreaking and tragic, the death of my friend Qamar Zaman
Kaira’s son Usama. May his soul rest in peace and may Allah give the strength to the family to bear this tragic loss,” President Dr Arif Alvi said.
Leaders of various political parties expressed their grief and sorrow over the untimely death of Kaira’s son. Some took to Twitter to extend their condolences.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced to suspend all political engagements in the wake of sad demise of Kaira’s son. Bilawal said that PPP and Bhutto family was standing with Kaira in the hour of distress.
Former president Asif Ali Zardari and other senior leaders including Nayyer Hussain Bokhari and Sherry Rehman also poured their heart out to Kaira.
“What a terrible tragedy for any parent to bear. May Allah give Kaira and his family the strength to bear this massive loss,” Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari wrote.
“I’m deeply saddened by the news of Osama Kaira’s passing. May Allah grant him Jannah and give his family, especially his father, Qamar Zaman Kaira and his mother the strength and patience to bear this irreparable loss. Aameen,” Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said. “May Allah give qamar zaman kaira sahib the strength to bear the loss of
his son. There can be no bigger loss a person can face. Our prayers are with him and his family,” former finance minister Asad Umar stated.
