Comedian Volodymyr Zelensky takes office as Ukraine’s president

Volodymyr Zelensky, a 41-year-old comedian with no political experience, took office as Ukraine’s president on Monday after winning a landslide election victory.
“I pledge to protect the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine,” the newly inaugurated president said during the ceremony in parliament in Kiev.
