Eid holidays for public and private sectors announced

Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Cabinet, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved Eid Al Fitr holidays that will start on Sunday (June 2, 2019) until Thursday (June 6, 2019). Work will resume on Sunday June 9, 2019.

Separately, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced that the period between Ramadan 29 and Shawal 3 inclusive will be a fully paid holiday for all private sector employees marking the Eid Al Fitr.

In March the UAE Cabinet has approved public holidays for the public sector for the years 2019-2020, and granted the private sector equal official holidays, a total of 14 official public holidays. The decision aims at enhancing the balance between the two sectors and supporting the national economy in its various fields.

The decision will contribute to streamlining work in both the public and private sectors, and enhance the attractiveness of the private sector for Emiratis.

The decision will also make it easier for citizens and residents to plan their vacations in advance and to strengthen social ties between all segments of the society.
