Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, accompanied 20 children registered with the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) during a shopping experience at the Arabian Centre in Dubai, to purchase clothing as part of an event titled 'Your Eid Clothing Is Our Joy' in preparation for Eid Al Fitr.
The activity was organised by the Ministry of Community Development, in cooperation with Rawafed Development and Learning Centre and the ERC's Dubai Branch. Ministry staff and officials from the ERC and Rawafed centre took part in the event.
Buhumaid and the children took part in various activities as part of the trip, including drawing and exchanging Eid greeting cards. The Minister explained that the Your Eid Clothing Is Our Joy initiative is in line with the humanitarian and social values highlighted during the Year of Tolerance, and the Holy Month of Ramadan.
She went on to say that the event seeks to address the needs of underprivileged children, and instilling joy and happiness during an auspicious occasion such as Eid Al Fitr. It also strengthens cohesion and social solidarity among UAE society, following the core foundations and rituals of Islam, Buhumaid continued.
According to the Minister, this latest gesture benefitted not only young children but also saw various local and government bodies come together and work towards stimulating community-based philanthropic and sustainable development initiatives.
