The Dubai Police handed out gifts to victims of human trafficking with an aim to instil in them the spirit of optimism and positivity, police said on Sunday.
The Human Trafficking Crime Control Centre presented a variety of gifts as a celebration for victims of human trafficking coinciding with Eid al Fitr. This took place at the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.
The Director of the Dubai Police General Department of Human Rights, Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Murr, stressed the importance of implementing special initiatives pacing with annual celebrations and events.
He noted that the aim is to delight the members of the community. The distribution of gifts is part of the annual initiative of the Human Trafficking Crime Control Centre under the slogan: “Our Eid ... Your Eid.”
This year’s ceremony was attended by First Warrant Officer Mohammed Hamad Al Mukhini, the Acting Head of the Human Trafficking Victims’ Care Section at the centre.
“It has become customary for the centre to implement initiatives that instil pleasure and joy in the hearts of human trafficking victims and inspire the spirit of optimism and positivity,” underscored Al Mukhini.
In this sense came the implementation of the “Our Eid ... Your Eid” initiative. The initiative brings a smile to their faces and fills their hearts with pleasure, he pointed out.
Psychological support and care for victims of human trafficking is among important matters that contribute to riding them of grief, fear and loss of hope so as to enable them return and integrate in their communities.
Therefore, the issue of frequent visits and provision of material and in-kind support to victims of human trafficking is at the core of the work of the Human Trafficking Crime Control Centre, yielding positive results.
Separately, Dubai Police will play a community role to enhance the sense of security and complement the ambiance of joy during Eid Al Fitr Holiday.
The Director of the General Department of Organisations and Establishments Protective Security Major General Abdulla Al Ghaithi congratulated the UAE leadership, police forces and the community at large on the occasion.
