The Dubai Public Prosecution referred to court the case of a 32-year-old Asian driver on the charge of sexually assaulting a 27-year-old maid in a room of her employer’s house.
The victim informed the police about the suspect the day after the incident, after she told her employer what had happened.
The latter took her to the police station to report the incident. The victim said the suspect took advantage of her being alone in the house and attempted to assault her two days earlier but she warned him. The suspect repeated his attempt when he assaulted the victim in the laundry room of the house though she tried hard to defend herself.
He then transferred her to another house belonging to the family. The suspect confessed to the crime before the Public Prosecution. He was detained and then referred to court.
Meanwhile, in a separate case in Sharjah the Sharjah Criminal Court heard the case of a young GCC national charged with stealing a motorbike from a house in the emirate of Sharjah.
A complaint was received by the Sharjah Police alerting about the theft of a motorbike from a house in Sharjah. After taking security measures and lifting the fingerprinting, the suspect was arrested in a government department, while he was getting an official document.
The court confronted the suspect with the charge which he denied, claiming he had a number of motorbikes and that he was surprised while reviewing the Identity and Citizenship Department with a circular on him after being charged with a theft.
He also indicated he had been referred directly to the Court without being fully interrogated.
The court adjourned the case to June 17 to summon the plaintiff and hear his statement.
