A firefighter died while putting out a tower blaze in the Business Bay yesterday, the Dubai Civil Defence announced today.
Corporal Tarik Abdullah Ali Al Haway, 28, from Etihad Firefighting Centre died on duty trying to extinguish the fire that erupted inside a building under construction in the Business Bay area on Saturday.
“He died a martyr on duty,” stressed the Director General of Dubai Civil Defence Major General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matroushi mourning the death of Corporal Al Haway. The incident happened on Abraj Street.
“Civil defence teams managed to put out the fire at 6:22pm and started working on the cooling phase. Around 38 minutes later, they were alerted that the corporal had gone missing,” explained Maj. Gen. Al Matroushi.
They found him dead. “Preliminary information revealed the martyr plunged through a gap in the building’s ceiling on the fourth floor and landed on the ground floor. He sustained injury that claimed his life,” he added.
Al Matroushi stressed that the martyr was a good citizen, loyal soldier to his homeland and duty, role model for his colleagues and an exemplary example of discipline, sacrifice and efficiency who never hesitated to work.
“We ask God to accept him with good acceptance and grant him abode in Paradise beside excellent companions; the truthful, martyrs and righteous. Also, to inspire patience in us, his family members and friends.”
It is worth mentioning that the martyr was born on 14 November 1990. He joined the Dubai Civil Defence on 8 February 2015 and moved to work under Etihad Firefighting Centre on the 3 March 2019.
