Cyclist killed after being run over in RAK

A 31-year-old Asian cyclist was killed due to his severe injuries after being run over by a vehicle driven by a 39-year-old GCC national on a road in Ras Al Khaimah.
According to Captain Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of the Investigation and Accident Planning Branch of the Traffic and Patrol Department of Rak Police, the police received a tipoff at 7.45pm on Friday alerting an accident between a bicycle and a vehicle.
Police and ambulance patrols rushed to the scene where the first examination revealed the death of the cyclist due to his injuries. The dead body was taken to the hospital for delivery to its relatives and the completion of the burial ceremony.
Brigadier Ahmed Al Deem Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Department at the General Directorate of RAK Police, appealed to drivers to abide by safe driving, especially during the night, when visibility decreases.
In another development, the Abu Dhabi Appellate Court looked into the case of a GCC national charged with renting his villa, in violation of the law, resulting in overcrowding in the villa which he rented to more than two people.
The suspect’s lawyer told the court her client had rented a villa unit for two people only, but the two hosted their friends to celebrate with them when the inspection team raided the villa.
The inspection team thought the celebrating people were living in the unit.
The lawyer pointed out that the Court of First Instance fined her client Dhs5,000 and ordered him to vacate the villa. She requested the acquittal of the suspect and cancelling the decision to vacate the villa.
An earlier report said the Court of First Instance in Abu Dhabi fined two persons Dhs250,000 each, on charges of insulting a person and outraging his modesty by calling him a fraudster through Snapchat. The victim filed a complaint indicating that two persons sent him two messages via Snapchat, a video and a voice recording containing insults, while he was presenting an ad about a perfume shop through the site.
