Al Qasba, Sharjah’s premier leisure and family destination, is bringing the hugely popular musical ‘Ariel’ to its Masrah Al Qasba – Theatre for three days, 11 - 13 July. This colourful musical adaptation of the classic Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale ‘The Little Mermaid’, is based on the Disney blockbuster that was the basis for the equally popular Broadway musical. It will be an ideal entertainment for children to enjoy with their friends during the summer holidays.
‘Ariel’, through the story of the plucky little mermaid princess who bargains with an evil witch to trade her singing voice for legs to pursue her love, the human Prince, packs in many messages for children about the universal nature of love and the sacrifices true love requires. Ariel’s journey from feisty teenager to a resourceful go-getter is ideal for children to learn many positive values through Al Qasba’s ‘Learning through Theatre’ series. It is also a spectacular adventure with special effects and comical characters such as Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and officious court composer Sebastian the crab, who help a voiceless Ariel to gain Prince Eric’s love within three days.
The piece de resistance is the immensely popular music score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Glenn Slater, featuring the Academy Award-winning song “Under the Sea.”
‘Ariel’ is the eighth classic musical to be showcased as part of Al Qasba’s ‘World of Stories’ theatre series that began in November last year and will continue until 20 December, 2019. All shows are organised in collaboration with Event Factory.

The first show will be staged on 11 July at 7pm and the other two shows will be on 12 and 13 July, at 5pm and 8pm respectively.
Tickets to the show are priced at Dhs45, and available for purchase at www.Platinumlist.net. They are also available at all Al Qasba and Al Majaz Waterfront information desks.
