The summer holidays are here and in most households children would want to be with their elders while they’re going about their household chores including cooking, baking or frying.
Most capital housewives feel stressed during the summer holidays especially when worrying over how to keep their wards occupied as well as get the domestic chores done, such as cleaning, cooking and shopping including feeding the family morning and evenings leaves them so anxious and exhausted that they find it hard to cope.
“I took to baking as a hobby and it helped me to develop calmness of spirit, it’s a real stress buster,” said a capital resident Rajeshwari Krishnan, who recently began her venture into baking cakes.
Rajeshwari, a housewife who opted to stay back this summer told Gulf Today that for her killing the summer time at home is really tough, especially in the UAE when all families have left for vacation and she has nowhere to go.
“Baking is like a devotion to me, I love baking bread and cookies as well,” added Mrs Krishnan who loves baking vanilla, strawberry, blueberry, chocolate and pineapple flavoured cakes. “But the list is just endless, I try all methods of baking including the latest trends and it’s quite challenging,” quipped the Indian expatriate.
“I stopped going for summer vacations as it is very hot in my hometown as well. Having a son who is a foodie, I spend time in trying out new cuisines and cook a variety of menus, but all the same I always had a passion for baking. The joy of baking delicacies at home feels so good and amazing for the mere fact that they are done at our leisure and are free of preservatives,” she quipped.
More so when summertime hits, it’s easy to start feeling the boredom at home, for both housewives and especially their wards when they get bored after the first few days have passed. “It all started one summer vacation when I started exploring the baking world,” opined Rajeshwari.
“My son became the reason for me to try out many different cakes as he loves to explore every possible flavour. The more I used to bake I started to perfect the art of baking and thereafter started teaching him as well so that we could use our time more productively during the summer afternoons,” she explained.
“The cake world is just endless to explore. There is so much to learn every time you bake. I am learning many techniques in baking from good teachers so my confidence in baking improves on a day to day basis,” Rajeshwari concluded.
Of course, different people choose to spend their summers differently. Some expatriate families who are staying back in the capital desire to take their children to indoor stations like the malls, theaters, theme parks including sending them to summer camps.
A few who visited theme parks had this to say, “The indoor parks with their thrilling rides and many other fun activities will be a lovely day out for the kids along with their families.”
Warner Bros.World Abu Dhabi, an indoor amusement park which transports its visitors to an incredibly immersive world filled with all their favorite characters; Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s first mega water park with over 40 rides, slides and attractions for the whole family, guaranteed to create a splash-filled adventure, suitable for all ages; Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the world’s first Ferrari-branded park with state-of-the-art simulators and record breaking rides to immersive and interactive child-friendly attractions like the Junior Training Camp; are just some of the many options available around the UAE.
These parks are the perfect places for families and friends looking for the ultimate day out.
