The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) organised on Thursday Al Hefaiyah Art Exhibition under the theme ‘My Photos of My Environment’ at Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Centre. The participants who were between 10 and 18 years old, comprised members of youth and arts centres and students from schools in the region.
Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, EPAA Chairperson, said, “Al Hefaiyah Art Exhibition is highlighting the centre’s aesthetics, the wildlife and the beautiful environment.
“The Exhibition fully focuses on fans of photography and the arts at the Sajaya centre, other centres for young people and arts, and students of schools in the region. It showcases the beauty of the centre and its exhibits, encourages talented people and increases the number of visitors,” Al Suwaidi further explained.
EPAA is keen to organise environmental events to promote awareness and creativity. EPAA’s significant contributions to the environment include a variety of initiatives, activities and programmes that leave its unique mark on the public.
Recently, EPAA’s Sharjah Natural History & Botanical Museum launched a five-day geology programme, which concluded Thursday.
The programme was created to introduce children to the importance of geology in a fun and entertaining way. It included lectures about the formation of volcanoes, the earth’s layers, types of rocks and ways that we use them in our daily lives, and types of dinosaurs.
The programme also included a volcano workshop, a workshop about the earth’s layers, about types of rocks and also a fossil-colouring workshop. There were also competitions, prizes and visits to the Children’s Farm and the Arabian Wildlife Centre.
The Sharjah Natural History & Botanical Museum has five halls detailing life on earth since the beginning of time.
There are displays of fossils, meteorites, taxidermic animals and desert ecosystems, along with a botanical garden with nearly 100 native plant species.
Recently, EPAA also organised the fourth edition of ‘Summer Is Better Together’ at Desert Park. The five-day programme included interactive lectures, interactive workshops, awareness-raising and recreational activities, as well as field visits to various places including Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization and the Rain Room.
