Police teach workers summer precautions

A team of officers from Al Madinah Comprehensive Police Station and Community Police Department of Ajman have implemented the “You Are First” initiative, launched with the purpose of increasing awareness among workers to take necessary precautions while working outdoors and under direct sunlight.

The initiative was launched by the Ajman Police General Headquarters in an attempt to achieve the strategic objective of the Ministry of Interior of increasing the security and safety of the UAE community, and enhancing the services provided to citizens.

Major Fatima Obaid Al Shamsi, Director of the Community Police Department, stated that the implementation of the initiative was part of Ajman Police’s keenness to support and protect all members of the society, and spread cooperation and good values among citizens. In addition, the main aim was to express thanks and appreciation for the important role of workers in the UAE and help ensure their safety when they are doing their job.

Maj Fatima Al Shamsi pointed out that a team of officers distributed cold water bottles among the workers, aiming to increase their awareness about the importance of frequent consumption of water especially during the summer season.

Awareness-raising pamphlets and hats were also distributed among workers in different parts of Ajman; besides offering advice and guidance on international standards of occupational safety, and creating a convenient atmosphere to accomplish the required tasks, apart from providing them necessary safety equipment.

The workers expressed their appreciation to the Ajman Police General Headquarters for their constant efforts to ensure workers’ safety and security and providing a risk-free work environment.

Recently, Sharjah Police General Directorate launched a “Safe Neighbourhood” initiative, which aims to increase the sense of safety and security in residential areas by implementing government accelerators.

A group of neighbourhoods were selected by the Sharjah Police to be the target of the launched security initiative.

The initiative includes awareness-raising and security campaigns that will be run in collaboration with various departments of the Sharjah Police, by establishing a 24-hour mobile police station in the concerned neighbourhoods.
