High school graduates looking for innovative courses to chart a successful future are in for a great surprise as Dubai College of Tourism has come up with a number of courses helping students select from multiple career choices in Tourism, Events, Hospitality, Retail and Culinary Arts.
The college, established by Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), offers a diverse programme of vocational education. Admissions for the September 2019 intake are still open.
The college provides skill-based vocational and specialised training across five core disciplines – Retail, Tourism, Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Events – with courses designed to bridge the gap between hands-on training and a traditional university degree, and preparing students for rewarding careers.
The world-class vocational courses offered by the college are designed to empower and prepare students with the knowledge and skills required through practical and theoretical learning. The training includes internships in the industry to help students gain valuable real-world skills and practical applications.
Students also have the option to transition into the workforce on successful completion of their one-year Certificate course or continue their vocational education at the collegeT to obtain a Diploma (an additional six months of study) and then go on to earn an Applied Bachelor’s degree (another year of study). This means that students can obtain their Bachelor’s over a period of two and half years.
Essa Bin Hadher, General Manager of the Dubai College of Tourism said that exam results are an important time in a student’s life, but they also tend to bring a period of anxiety and stress for both students and parents. This year, it is no different.
He said, “With students readying themselves now for a new journey in their academic life, the Dubai College of Tourism is offering vocational alternatives featuring the best of both worlds – a combination of classroom learning and practical hands-on experience. Our courses will help young students develop their practical skills, industry talents and their self-confidence and prepare them for direct entry into the workforce.”
He stressed that the courses provide industry-specific training and development, as part of a transformational education experience that will not only help students stand out in the hiring process but also ensure they excel in the workplace.
