Ministry lays down terms for tuition fee exemption

The Ministry of Education (MoE) affirmed it will exempt two of its expatriate children from tuition fees, if the children are studying in a public school, provided there are no other children in private schools, and it will pay a maximum cash allowance of Dhs10,000 for each student studying in private schools.
The MoE stressed the importance of non-duplication of obtaining the money by the spouses, in the sense that if they work according to Contract A, fees will be given to one of them. But if one of them works according to Contract A and the other according to Contract B, the payment will be given to the first one.
“If the employee has more than two of his sons in public schools, two of them are exempted from paying the fees, and the parent must pay Dhs6,000 for the other student, provided that the payment receipt is attached with the declaration,” according to the Ministry.
The ministry identified two cases in which the female teacher’s students are exempted from tuition fees if they are enrolled in public schools, the first if she is a widow and the breadwinner of the family, provided that she submits a dependency certificate, issued by a Shari’a court, in addition to a copy of the husband’s death certificate.
In the second case, the female teacher is entitled to a tuition fee of Dhs6,000 for each son, up to two, if they study in private schools, in case the husband is incapable of work and earning, according to a medical report approved by the competent medical committee, in addition to a certificate of dependency.
Recently, the MoE started the new academic year 2019-2020, with the opening of the Zayed School Complex in Al Seyouh area in Sharjah for students of the second ring and the secondary stage, where it will accommodate about 3,000 students.
The ministry also said two complexes are under construction in Al Khawaneej and Al Barsha in Dubai and a third in Ras Al Khaimah, which will be ready to receive students in 2020-2021, according to Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education.
