The third edition of Emirates Academy of Dermatology, Aesthetics and Laser Conference and Exhibition –Emirates Derma, concluded in the Capital on Saturday after enriching discussions on a number of important topics related to the field of dermatology.
Experts highlighted latest advances in fillers, facial rejuvenation and hair growth strategies.
On the third and final day, the conference featured discussions on important topics related to dermatology such as ‘Dark Circles Under the Eyes’, ‘How Contraction Patterns of Upper Face Muscles Affect Botox Injection Techniques’, ‘New Results with Updated Technique and New Fillers’ to name a few.
Commenting on her topic, ‘Dark Circles Under the Eyes’ Dr Victoria Inene, MD, said, “In the UAE, nonsurgical face lifting is one of the main skin care treatment concerns for patients, which includes the use of fillers in combination with botox and thread. In the UAE, skincare practitioners have access to advanced cosmetic medicine and patients are generally aware about their skin treatment procedure and the material being used, which is an inherent right of the patient.”
Dr Victoria Inene added, “In medical terminology, the technical name for dark circles around the eyes is called ‘Periorbital hyperchromia’.
Although dark circles are generally considered cosmetically unappealing, sometimes they also pose a medical concern. A variety of differing aesthetic treatments are available for non-surgical Periorbital rejuvenation and one procedure or technique alone is usually insufficient. The most popular treatments currently available are fillers with a combination of carboxytherapy, peeling and PRP or mesotherapy,” she advised.
