His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received on Monday at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi, Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Saudi Energy Minister, who is currently in the UAE for the World Energy Congress.
Sheikh Mohamed congratulated Prince Abdulaziz on his appointment by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and wished him success in his new post.
The meeting touched on ways to enhance the strong fraternal ties between the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Also discussed were a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Sheikh Mohamed underlined the importance of the World Energy Congress in shaping the future of global energy industry by tackling solutions, ideas and initiatives to overcome the challenges facing this vital sector.
Sheikh Suroor Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Nahyan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Lt. General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, Turki Bin Abdullah Al Dakheel, Saudi Ambassador to the UAE, Sheikhs and senior officials, attended the meeting.
Sheikh Mohamed also received the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Total, Patrick Pouyanné, at Qasr Al Bahr Majlis.
Pouyanné was accompanied by Dr Sultan Bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and ADNOC Group CEO.
Sheikh Mohamed and Pouyanné discussed cooperation opportunities between Total and Emirati specialised companies, institutions and sectors concerned with energy and ways to develop this vital sector to aid development, construction and prosperity globally.
They also spoke about the agenda of the 24th World Energy Congress currently under way in Abu Dhabi, which enables discussions amongst Ministers, CEOs, policymakers and industry practitioners on critical developments in the energy sector.
Also during the day, Sheikh Mohamed received Malaysian Minister of Economic Affairs, Mohamed Azmin Ali, at Al Bahr Palace Majlis.
The Malaysian minister is currently visiting the UAE to attend the 24th World Energy Congress, WEC, that is being held from Sept.9-12, in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Mohamed discussed with the Malaysian minister ways to boost cooperation and friendship between the UAE and Malaysia in the economic, trade, investment fields to open wider horizons of cooperation and joint work for the benefit of the two peoples.
They also tackled a number of topics of mutual interest. Sheikh Mohamed and Ali spoke about topics which is being discussed in the congress that will focus on shaping the future of the world’s energy industry and its role in global prosperity.
Sheikh Mohamed also received on Monday at Al Bahr Palace Majlis, Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mauritania.
Sheikh Mohamed and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mauritania discussed bilateral relations and ways to develop cooperation between the two fraternal countries.
They also reviewed a number of issues and the latest regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Sheikh Mohamed also received on Monday a delegation from the Abu Dhabi Airports Company, ADAC.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed discussed with the delegation members the progress of plans being implemented by ADAC to develop the aviation sector.
The delegation members expressed their delight at meeting Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and praised his support to the vital sectors, contributing to the comprehensive development in the UAE.
