Student accused of causing injuries to policeman

The public prosecution referred a Gulf university student to the courts of law on charges of assaulting a civil servant while on duty, using violence and intentionally hitting his 4W vehicle before running away.

According to the investigations, the victim, a policeman, said he was a member of a team formed to investigate a car theft. The perpetrator was identified and found to be staying in a hotel in Dubai.

The victim went to the perpetrator who happened to be in his vehicle. As soon as the victim showed him his military ID, the perpetrator moved fast, hitting the policeman’s vehicle and causing injuries to the policeman as a result of which he had to stop work for 20 days. The court ordered that the defendant continue to be remanded in custody.

In a separate development, the Integrated Transport Centre has announced that a street in Z-1 sector in Mohamed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi will be partially closed for 4 months from Saturday, (Sept.28, 2019) till Friday, (Jan.31, 2020) for maintenance. The centre explained that the closure would include Al Fida Street and that traffic would be temporarily diverted in one direction during the said period.

The centre called on commuters to exercise extreme caution and follow traffic safety guidelines.
