Sharjah Police raise security awareness

Represented by the character of the “young policeman”, the Media and Public Relations Department at Sharjah Police have organised a number of field visits to the Sharjah International Private School, National Charity School in Ajman, Albraeem Kindergarten, and Al Falah’s Kindergarten, in an aim to offer proper guidance and advice for all students.

The visit came as part of the Sharjah Police General Directorate’s keenness to communicate with all educational institutions in the Emirate, and spread security awareness among students, which came within the frame of the security programmes under the supervision of the Community Police Department. The set programmes include cultural, awareness-raising and entertainment programmes for all students.

The programmes included a series awareness-raising lectures and different educational instructions, presented through illustration of safety and security rules, and means of school transportation.

Lectures were divided according to the different age groups of students, and security messages were simplified and explained to young children about traffic rules. The students also participated in a number of friendly competitions that were set by the “young policeman” character, in an attempt to create an atmosphere of joy among students.

The visit ended with a distribution of gifts for students who took part in the games, and a total number of 400 students from the mentioned schools benefited from these educational lectures.

Recently, Major General Saif Al-Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, witnessed the launching of the radar for the public buses and taxi lanes on Buhairah Corniche in Al Majaz area. Among the attendees were Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Al-Kai, Deputy Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police and a number of competent police officers.

The move came within the keenness of the Sharjah Road and Transport Authority (the strategic partner) to enhance traffic safety, in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategic objectives aiming at making roads safer.

For his part, Al Shamsi said that Sharjah Police spare no effort to ensure the safety of road users, through the awareness campaigns on the traffic side, and the development of means to maintain safety of roads in the emirate. Consequently, the Traffic and Patrols Department has designated a radar to monitor the offending vehicles when using bus and taxi routes, thereby reducing traffic congestion and smooth traffic, he added, urging motorists to abide by traffic rules.
