Rubu’ Qarn empowers children with innovation, creativity

The four subsidiaries of Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators – Sharjah Children (SC), Sharjah Youth (SY), Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah (Sajaya), and Sharjah for Capability Development (SCD) – Tatweer, recently organised an introductory meeting for their members.

The event was intended for members to gain insights into the entities’ strategic plans and ongoing efforts aimed at enabling them to realise their full potential, be rooted in their national identity and empowered with 21st-century skills. The event showcased how the four Rubu’ Qarn subsidiaries work under one unified vision to bring out the best in children and youth.

“Sajaya aims to nurture generations of well-rounded young ladies who undergo training in life skills, art, sports, culture, science and leadership with us. We offer an enabling environment and a state-of-the-art infrastructure within which our members tap into their fullest potential and gain from the new learnings they receive under the mentorship of qualified personnel," said Sheikha Aisha Khalid Al Qasimi, Director of Sajaya.

“Rubu’ Qarn Foundation’s subsidiaries share a unified vision to empower the UAE’s children, girls and youth with creativity, innovation and 21st-century skills,” she added.

Sharjah for Capability Development – Tatweer delivered a presentation on its three specialised training programmes, designed to upskill young Emiratis and enable them to succeed on personal and professional levels.

Reem BinKaram, Member of the Board of Trustees of Rubu Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators,, said: “SCD’s training programmes are designed to unleash, develop and invest in the potential of local youth in an Emirati environment, which inspires creativity and innovation. Our overarching aim is to contribute to the progress and sustainable development of Sharjah and the UAE by shaping capable local leaders who will guide us into a bright, sustainable future.

“It is crucial to support young talent at the national level, particularly those with a passion to make a real difference in the community," BinKaram remarked.

Aisha Ali Al Kaabi, Acting Director of Sharjah Children, said: “These meetings are set up to educate our children, introduce them to the next steps in self-development they can take at Rubu’ Qarn; the eligibility criteria of Sajaya and SY, and how they will help these children continue on their journey of growth, which they started with us at Sharjah Children. The meetings emphasise to our members the complementary and sustainable role Rubu’ Qarn’s subsidiaries play.

“Rubu’ Qarn’s vision and efforts receive the strongest support of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikh Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, who for decades, have been stressing on the importance of supporting families, children in particular,” she added.

Fatima Musharbek, Acting Director of Sharjah Youth, pointed out that the introductory meeting was a brand new effort by Rubu’ Qarn to achieve stronger institutional integration through a deliberate and methodical plan, and was essential to realising the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and his wife, which has been guiding the four subsidiaries to invest in their members through 25 formative years of their lives.

SC targets boys and girls aged 6-12 years, SY is dedicated to young males aged 13-18 years, Sajaya focuses on young girls in the 13-18 years age group, while SCD – Tatweer supports young men and women aged 19- 25 years.

SC members who are almost 13 years of age learnt about the membership criteria stipulated by Sajaya and SY, and the various skills and personality development activities and workshops they offer. Members of Sajaya and SY, on the other hand, explored the programmes of SCD – Tatweer, and were given a detailed explanation of the transition process Rubu’ Qarn implements, based on their age group database, to absorb new members into SCD – Tatweer.

Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators is the first Emirati institution in the region to support members for 25 years and develop their talents and skills through inclusive programmes and activities that build a generation dedicated to national identity and capable of leading and influencing the future. Rubu’ Qarn is the umbrella for four Sharjah-based entities: Sharjah Children (SC), Sharjah Youth (SY), Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah (Sajaya), and Sharjah for Capability Development (SCD) – Tatweer. It undertakes the task of developing a unified strategic plan for these four institutions through an integrated system of development programmes to benefit the members, the community of Sharjah and the UAE, and the international community.
