Prosecution app to help clear traffic jams

The Dubai Public Prosecution in coordination with Dubai Police on Wednesday launched a smart app to shorten time to process accident reports and clear traffic jams.

The move paces with the realisation of Dubai Government’s vision to transform Dubai into a fully smart city, the high speed of Dubai’s comprehensive development movement and adopting innovative solutions. The Dubai Public Prosecution, in collaboration with the Dubai Police General Command, launched the “Smart Report” application during Gitex Technology Week. The intelligent electronic programme enables traffic police officers to send critical traffic accident reports to the concerned prosecutor on incidents leading to death and injury.

“This enables the prosecutor finalise necessary inspection procedures as soon as possible,” explained Counsellor Salah Bu Faroucha Al Felaasi, Head of the Dubai Traffic Prosecution.

“After the arrival of the police to the scene, the traffic cop logs in through the smart application, takes photos and videos, asks witnesses and sends the report to the prosecutor,” Al Felaasi said.

The traffic prosecutor receives an alert message at any time and place to directly view and evaluate the report and take the necessary actions.

He then takes the appropriate decision and conveys the result of the report immediately to the traffic policeman.

Al Felaasi said the smart report system will speed up the investigation and inspection procedures needed in traffic accidents leading to death and injuries.

It will help police who are one of the key strategic partners in reducing traffic jams caused by serious traffic accidents in Dubai and their consequences.

This is because the prosecutor will not need to move to the accident scene and will be able to complete the procedures from anywhere within 24 hours. It will help avoid paper transactions in technical correspondences and reports as it will complete all the necessary transactions to achieve the Dubai Paperless Strategy.

It will contribute to the processing of subsequent requests of persons involved in accidents leading to death and injuries that required a period of not less than a month.
