Employee in the dock over impersonating sleuth, theft

The Dubai Public Prosecution referred a 27-year-old GCC employee to trial on charges of forced theft, impersonation of detectives and seizing Dhs3,000 and two phones from a person.
The suspect impersonated a CID person and stopped the victim as he walked in the labour accommodation area of Al Quoz Industrial Area in Dubai.
The suspect showed his ID proving he was a CID agent and asked him to get into his car. He, with another, blindfolded him, took his wallet from which he took Dhs3,000, and two phones, then he dropped him on the road.
A policeman reported they received a tipoff from the operations room about a forced robbery.
Investigation teams identified the vehicle number of the suspect.
The car was circulated and found to be owned by the suspect’s sister but he used it.
His residence was located in Muhaisnah area where he was arrested and taken to the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
When he was asked about the incident he denied it and claimed that he was in the crime area at the same time by coincidence.
The witness said when the suspect’s vehicle was searched, 3 mobile phones and 4 recharge cards of du company were found.
The victim identified the suspect accused, who was found to have a criminal record in similar cases.
