For the six consecutive year, the Friends of Kidney Patients Association, FKPA, one of the health support associations at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, SCFA, organized the “Water Campaign” with the aim of raising awareness on the importance of drinking adequate amounts of water for maintaining kidney health.
The campaign activities kicked off on Saturday at the Flag Island in Sharjah, with the participation of Sharjah Municipality, Friends of Breastfeeding Association, Al Zahra Hospital, and NMC Hospital.
Free examinations were conducted for the participants, along with awareness workshops for both children and adults on kidney disease, its symptoms, and ways of prevention, in addition to shedding more light on the importance of water in keeping your kidneys healthy.
Also, a number of contests were organised, While Sharjah Municipality dedicated a special corner for children’s activities including coloring, painting, and writing.
A three-round running race “650M” was organised by FKPA, in which water bottles were distributed to the runners, followed by handing out medals to the winners.
The campaign concluded with conducting free checkups for the participants including blood pressure and BMI tests and distributing gifts to the attendees.
Mariam Khalfan bin Dakheen, Director of the Friends of Kidney Patients Association, said, “This annual campaign comes as part of the association’s efforts to raise awareness on the importance of the kidney, and ways of maintaining its health, and to highlight the role of water in keeping kidney health, for Sharjah Community including children, adults, the elderly and working women.”
This comes in line with the Emirate of Sharjah and UAE’s vision in terms of stimulating healthy lifestyles and preventing diseases.
