The Criminal Court of Sharjah adjourned a case in which three Asians, including a builder, were charged with stealing electrical wires from a construction site.
According to the facts of the case that dates back to Aug.24, the three suspects stole electrical wires from an under construction villa located in Al Siouh area, after they had entered the site by night.
In his testimony before the Court, the major defendant (builder) admitted that he works in brickwork at the site, but intentionally attended the day of the incident to steal the wires in complicity with the second defendant. The under-construction site had no fences, he added, noting that the third defendant attended the scene later onthe morning after they had called him to buy the stolen wires.
The third defendant, who works in the scrap trade, also admitted that he attended the site in Al Siouh area in the morning in a pick-up vehicle to which the second defendant loaded the wires. The first and the second received Dhs650 in return for the wires, he added, confirming that he did not get off the vehicle and had no idea that the wires were stolen.
The Sharjah Criminal Court postponed the case till Nov.11, to hear the statement of the plaintiff and summoned the second defendant, while ordering that the other two would remain in custody.
In a separate development, an Asian sustained serious injuries and was hospitalised following a collision that involved a tank and a truck on the Emirates Road due to lack of concentration while driving.
According to the official records, the operations room at Sharjah Police received a report on Saturday that a tank collided with a truck on the Emirates Road at Al Sajaa Exit.
Traffic patrols and national ambulances rushed to the scene of the accident to find that an Asian driver in his thirties was seriously injured. He was taken to Al Qasimi Hospital for medical treatment. The file of the accident was referred to the competent police station for investigation.
