VIDEO: Man gets Dhs40,000 fine, vehicle confiscated for performing dangerous stunts in Al Ain

The Al Ain Court of Misdemeanours and Traffic Offences sentenced a young Gulf national to three months in prison and slapped a Dhs40,000 fine for reckless driving, performing dangerous stunts and posing a danger to the lives of others and causing damage to the road owned by the Municipality of Al Ain.

The court also confiscated the vehicle and suspended the driver's licence for three months for not complying with traffic rules and regulations.

The incident came to light when a video of the stunt was posted on social networking sites.

The court also convicted the young Gulf man of driving a vehicle without a number plate.

In the details of the case, the concerned authorities conducted the necessary investigations after the spread of a video clip on the social media of a person driving a vehicle in a way that posed danger to the safety of the public with the presence of crowd and number of cars on the highway.

The Public Prosecution in Abu Dhabi urged all young people to abide by the traffic laws and be responsible in the roads and not to endanger their lives and others.

The prosecution pointed out that the majority of those convicted on charges of reckless driving are young people between the age of 18-30 years.

The authorities have stressed that cooperation of all educational, community and media bodies is required to educate every individual of the dangerous consequences.
