The unique video immediately went viral, with netizens praising the artwork.
Responding to the call from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid to celebrate Flag Day, the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) launched the sixth edition of ‘Flag Garden’ at Kite Beach in Jumeirah. Organised by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the GDMO, the ‘Flag Garden’ will be open till 10 December 2019.
This year, the ‘Flag Garden’ features 4,500 UAE flags arranged to create portraits of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed.
The GDMO Director General Mona Al Marri led the celebrations along with employees of GDMO, Brand Dubai and Dubai Press Club.
Al Marri said that the ‘Flag Garden’ has become an annual event that attracts visitors throughout the period of celebration, which starts on Flag Day and continues till the National Day.
“This year’s edition of Flag Garden aims to honour our nation’s leaders and acknowledge their role in guiding the UAE’s development into a nation that is shaping the future of the world. This initiative is in line with our objective of communicating Dubai’s unique identity and aspirations through innovative initiatives. Through this year’s Flag Garden, we aim to create an iconic visual image that conveys the role of leadership in nation building,” said Al Marri.
The Flag Garden will be open to visitors until 10 December 2019.

Falah Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities (DPM), said the UAE Flag Day celebrations are a tribute of respect to our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who unified the Emirates 48 years ago.
“The event also reaffirms allegiance and respect to the UAE flag as a symbol of national unity.
He also explained that this occasion symbolises the UAE’s unity, pride and dignity.
“The celebration reflects our national identity and sense of belonging, in which we all remember the efforts of the Founding Fathers, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, and their brothers.
“These great men put in place the foundations of our country and made a lifelong commitment to ensure its prosperity.
“This vision was guided by our wise leadership and spearheaded by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, all of whom march together towards the achievement of this great vision.
“We pay tribute to the work of our Armed Forces in maintaining our security and the stability of our nation, while ensuring the cohesion and the stability of the Arab region.”
