The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Ajman Police General Headquarters arrested a person of Arab nationality who tricked others by selling them counterfeit dollars on Facebook account.
On the details of the case, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director of Criminal Investigations and Investigations Department, confirmed the existence of information about the person of Arab nationality who tricked people into buying fake dollars which he offered on half of value of actual currency through the social networking site "Facebook."
Accordingly, a working team was formed from the Criminal Investigation Department to uncover crime and arrest the accused.
CID team reached out to suspect and agreed with him to buy $20,000 for Dhs37,000, and by taking all legal procedures.
The suspect an Arab National in his 30s was caught in red handed in Rashidiya area when he came to deliver the amount to CID team.
He possessed a large amount of white paper bundles cut in the size of the dollar currency, and counterfeit bills of $100 used in the fraud, which the fraudster used to cover the white bundle from the top and bottom with a counterfeit note.
Print them by himself and after the transaction, the buyer is surprised that he has been involved in a fraud and that the papers he bought are worthless white papers.
The defendant confessed to his actions in his statement after his arrest and the case file was referred to the Public Prosecution.
The Director of the Criminal Investigation Department warned the public against trading or selling any kind of counterfeit currency that harm the interests of the individual and society, stressing that Ajman Police will be on the lookout for anyone who wants to defraud others or commit any crime that threatens the security and safety of society.
