An Asian carpenter and a blacksmith stole a mobile phone from another person by tricking him into giving it and when the latter chased him, they threatened him at knifepoint if he would not stop chasing them.
A Dubai Police corporal testified that while he was on duty in a security patrol, a report was received from the operations room that a theft took place in Jebel Ali Industrial Area 1. The patrol rushed to the scene of the incident and asked the victim about what happened. The victim said while he was sitting with a number of friends, the defendants came to him and talked with him about several issues. In the meantime, one of the defendants asked for the victim’s mobile phone to make a phone call. The victim who gave his mobile phone to the defendant was surprised at the defendant giving the mobile phone to the other defendant and running away.
The victim and his friends chased the defendants but the latter stopped. One of them took out a knife and threatened to kill the victim if he would not stop chasing them.
Recently, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Ajman Police General Headquarters arrested an Arab national who tricked others by selling them counterfeit dollars on a Facebook account.
On the details of the case, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director of Criminal Investigations and Investigations Department, confirmed the existence of information about the person of Arab nationality who tricked people into buying fake dollars which he offered on half of value of actual currency through the social networking site Facebook.
Accordingly, a working team was formed from the Criminal Investigation Department to uncover the crime and arrest the accused.
The CID team reached out to suspect and agreed with him to buy $20,000 for Dhs37,000, and by taking all legal procedures.
The suspect, an Arab national in his 30s, was caught red-handed in Rashidiya area when he came to deliver the amount to the CID team.
