‘The Platform’, a first-of-its-kind stand-up comedy and entertainment roadshow in Sharjah launched a few weeks ago, is bringing its fun-packed programme of outdoor concerts and stand-up comedy to a new location this weekend — the historic Heart of Sharjah district, on November 14 – 15.
A brainchild of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), ‘The Platform’ has been showcasing at some of Shurooq’s most popular family destinations like Al Qasba and Al Majaz Waterfront since October 31.
It’s the last weekend to catch this cultural extravaganza packed with music and rib-tickling humour by a new cast of artists and stand-up comedians in the charming Heart of Sharjah district — the region’s largest historical restoration project. This weekend’s line-up includes the Coke Studio star, Zaw Ali, most popular for the song ‘Ghari Ghari’. Mohammed Aly Momos, an Egyptian with Greek roots who finds an angle of humour in every day social situations was a riot during his performances in Al Qasba and Al Majaz Waterfront. He will be one to watch this weekend too, especially for those who need a good laugh.
In the past two weekends, The Platform has brought notable names like Emirati guitarist Brshawe, young singer and guitarist, Khubi Ali, Begimay Abdysamatova from Kyrgyzstan, and pop stars Chiffon and Naser Fairouz, to the stage. Amazing stand-up gigs by Emirati Abdullah Ali “Abz”, Mohammed Aly Momos, Jo Sayar, an engineer turned comedian, as well as a group of local artists, Osman Rohil and Saif Al Muhairi, also performed.
