Residents and visitors of Ajman Marina have witnessed the great success of the Car Boot Sale, organised by Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD). A large number of vendors and traders who took part in the sale and attracted a sizeable crowd.
The venue was relocated from Festival Land to Ajman Marina in order to boost and promote tourism in the Emirate of Ajman. The Marina is considered to be an ideal tourist destination, especially during winter, that includes a great variety of retail outlets and restaurants which provide many options and services to the visiting families.
Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, ATDD Director General, explained that ATDD is keen to encourage a flow of tourists throughout the Emirate by enhancing events and changing venues. One of Ajman’s innovative offerings, the Car Boot Sale is helping boost tourism.
Atheer Mufid, Chief Operating Officer at Marsa Properties, which owns and manages the development of the land and projects at Ajman Marina, stressed that he is eager to cooperate with government departments in the emirate, especially ATDD, which supports the company’s activities. He said that events such as this increase the number of visitors, which is the main goal for any successful retail project.
A British tradition, a Car Boot Sale is similar to a flea market. Vendors display a variety of discounted second-hand products including clothes, books and toys in the boots of their cars in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. The event started on Oct.17, and will be held from 4pm to 11pm every Thursday and Friday until May 2020.
Recently, The Ajman Tourism Development Department decided to ban plastic products, to keep pace with the government’s related efforts, raise community awareness, and reduce the impact of plastics on the environment.
Saleh Al Jazzeri, Director-General of the Department, said that the sustainability of the tourism sector is being prioritised by the Ajman Government, as a key pillar of the Ajman Vision 2021. Jawaher Salem Al Matroushi, Director of the Assistive Services Administration at the Department, stated that it is keen to launch and support initiatives that aim to protect the environment and achieve sustainable development.
