Sheikh Sultan settles citizens’ debts worth Dhs72.28m

The Sharjah Debt Settlement Committee, SDSC, has approved Dhs72.28 million to settle cases for citizens in the emirate, as part of its 19th batch of payments, under the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to provide a stable and decent life for the citizens.

Rashid Ahmed Bin Al Sheikh, Chief of the Sharjah Emiri Court and Head of the Committee, said the committee has approved to pay the debt of people from various categories, amounting to Dhs72.28 million.

“The total amount processed since the first batch is Dhs734.87 million for 1,477 beneficiaries,” he added.

Separately, Sheikh Sultan attended on Monday the launch of the 12th International Conference on Sustainable Energy & Environmental Protection “SEEP 2019,” at the Medical and Health Sciences Colleges - University of Sharjah (UoS), with the participation of a number of researchers and specialists in the fields of engineering and renewable energy from various universities and research institutes.

This year, the four-day conference will focus on a number of vital areas, such solar thermal applications, marine and ocean energy, wind energy and its applications, the latest technical developments in vehicles, fuelling technology and many more important domains.

The event featured a documentary, highlighting the conference’s achievements and progress during the last twelve years. Then, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah honoured the speakers and sponsors.

Sheikh Sultan also affirmed Sharjah’s keenness to develop the educational system and qualify teachers through high-quality educational outputs that benefit students.

His words came while witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Sharjah (UOS) and the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), at Sheikh Sultan’s office at the University of Sharjah on Monday.

Sheikh Sultan pointed out that the MoU will help continuity of cooperation, which has already started between the UoS and the SPEA in the rehabilitation of Emirati teachers, graduates of Islamic studies and Arabic language.

Sheikh Sultan noted that teachers will be qualified through a professional diploma in teaching, and giving the opportunity for teachers to train in schools to hone and develop their teaching skills.

The MoU is concerned with joint cooperation, exchange of knowledge and expertise, as well as establishing a partnership that contributes to sustainable development.
