Teenager falls to death from Sharjah apartment

In a tragic incident, a 16-year-old teenager died on the spot after he jumped from the balcony of his apartment in Sharjah. The incident took place in the Al Qasimia area of Sharjah on Saturday afternoon, the Sharjah Police said.

Passerby said they saw the boy lying unconscious at the site and immediately informed the ambulance and police.

The boy was rushed to the Al Kuwaiti Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the 16-year-old was out with friends till late hours. His parents were worried about his whereabouts. The father noticed his son near his house late in the night and during a heated argument with him, slapped the boy in public.

The upset boy reportedly left the scene, and went to the apartment. He was later reported to have jumped from the balcony of the building. The police have questioned some people linked with the incident. It was also learnt that the police have questioned the parents of the ill-fated teenager. The investigation is on and more details are yet to be released.

The body was transferred to the competent authorities for postmortem.
