Brigadier General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, chaired a meeting at Al Shohadaa Hall (Martyrs’ Hall) of the Headquarters, to discuss preparations of the upcoming holiday for Commemoration Day and the 48th UAE National Day.
The meeting was held to enhance and coordinate security during the celebration of the two days in Sharjah. However, General Managers and Directors of Departments were present to put comprehensive security measures, and ensure the safety and security of all society members during the celebration. Competent officers and officials of Sharjah Police were all ready with solid security plans.
Brig. Gen. Abdullah, stressed on the keenness of Sharjah Police on providing a safe celebration atmosphere for all members of the UAE to celebrate such special national occasion. All emergency preparations were made to deal with emergency situations that may take place on roads or areas of celebration. He lastly urged all community members to cooperate with police officers to ensure their safety and security.
Departments of the Sharjah Police decided to increase the number of patrols that were distributed in heavy traffic areas of celebration to facilitate traffic flow. Police patrols will also increase near shopping malls and various venues of celebration.
The Traffic and Patrol Department urged all motorists and road users to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, and follow the guidelines published on social media sites of Sharjah Police. The guidelines point out instructions of driving vehicles during celebration of the National Day. The police advice drivers to follow the guidelines to ensure a complete and successful organization of the celebration.
The Sharjah Police General Directorate wishes a happy holiday for all community members of the UAE, and urges them to directly inform authorities in the cases of witnessing any law-breaking acts on the toll-free numbers (999) for emergencies, and (901) for non-emergency cases.
Recently, more than 2000 participants joined the second Ryan UAE Minithon ‘Run for Tolerance’ hosted by The Ryan International School, Sharjah. Following the International Day of Tolerance celebrated on Nov.16, this event supported the National agenda of the Year – Year of Tolerance in association with the Consulate General of India, Dubai.
Runners included a contingent of over 25 schools and over 1500 children from across Sharjah. Over 600 people from different corporate firms around Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah also took part in the event.
