The Department of Municipalities and Transport, represented by the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) Abu Dhabi, said individuals who will use the Abu Dhabi Traffic Toll Gate can recover the balance of the electronic payment account in two cases only: selling the existing vehicle or buying a new one in accordance with the ITC procedures.
The minimum recharge is Dhs50 and the maximum is Dhs10,000, it added.
The traffic toll gate system fees are paid through the integrated electronic payment account, the department said, noting that there no recharge cards to top up the electronic payment account and that individuals should visit the website www.dot.gov.abudhabi to top up the account.
The electronic payment account allows payment of not only Abu Dhabi toll gate fees but parking fees and traffic fines as well, the department said.
Earlier, a free trial period for the four road toll gates in Abu Dhabi was decided to be launched from October 15, 2019 to January 1, 2020.
This gave commuters enough time to organise the times of their daily trips and convenient transport alternatives.
The gradual application of the traffic toll gate system will also enable the Department of Transport and the ITC to conduct studies and analyses on the effect of the traffic tariff on traffic and congestion at peak hours.
Senior citizens, retired, people of determination and citizens with limited income are exempted from the toll gate fees. Monthly payment of tollgate fees for individual vehicles were set as follows:
Dhs200 for the first car, Dhs150 for the second one and Dhs100 for each additional vehicle. The maximum daily fee is Dhs16.
In Nov, the Integrated Transport Centre, announced that GCC-registered vehicles can now pay for parking fees using SMS by a UAE mobile phone number. The service is offered to facilitate Mawaqif services offered to the residents and visitors of Abu Dhabi.
Noting that Mawaqif parking times are from 8:00 am to 12:00 am from Saturday to Thursday, the parking areas are categorised as; Premium Parking (blue and white colours) at a rate of Dhs3 per hour with a maximum stay of 4 hours; Standard Parking (blue and black colours) at a rate of Dhs2 per hour or Dhs15 per day.
Also, Resident Permit Parking is marked with a signboard and/or a blue line and is enforced from 9:00 pm to 8:00 am. In addition, villa residents parking are dedicated to permit holders only and the parking spaces are identified with signboards.
