18-year-old girl jumps off a building in Sharjah

The Sharjah Police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old girl who jumped off a residential tower in the Al Qasimia area on Tuesday.

The Syrian girl died on spot due to fatal injuries she sustained after fall.

Police are investigating the reasons behind the girl’s sudden suicide.

The prosecutor ordered for the body to be transferred to the forensics department for further investigation.

Last month in a tragic incident, a 16-year-old teenager died on the spot after he jumped from the balcony of his apartment in Sharjah.

The incident took place in the Al Qasimia area of Sharjah on Saturday afternoon, the Sharjah Police said.

Passerby said they saw the boy lying unconscious at the site and immediately informed the ambulance and police.

The boy was rushed to the Al Kuwaiti Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the 16-year-old was out with friends till late hours. His parents were worried about his whereabouts.

The father noticed his son near his house late in the night and during a heated argument with him, slapped the boy in public.

The upset boy reportedly left the scene, and went to the apartment. He was later reported to have jumped from the balcony of the building.

The police have questioned some people linked with the incident. It was also learnt that the police have questioned the parents of the ill-fated teenager.
