Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) organised a special event for 50 senior Emiratis at Majlis Al Rashidiya, of the Community Development Authority. Dewa employees organised some activities and competitions, including an introduction to the civic body’s services.
“Dewa attaches great importance to all segments of the society, especially senior Emiratis. This is in gratitude to those who built the renaissance of the UAE. We are very proud of our senior Emiratis, who are our role models. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, once observed: ‘They are senior in experience, in service to this country and the highest in our eyes and hearts.’ The UAE is based on people and we attach greater importance to our senior citizens, with an integrated system to make them happy, and provides all means to ensure their comfort. We are keen on their participation in community activities, so they can be aware of their rights and how we can take care of them. We learn from the first generation, a culture of giving, dedication and loyalty. We also learn from their experiences and knowledge and strive to transfer it to the next generations,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dewa.
“Senior citizens are the nation’s wealth and an indispensable part of our society. Dewa is committed to its social responsibility and the directives of the wise leadership to ensure social, financial, health stability for the senior citizens. It also enhances their integration and empowerment in the society,” added Al Tayer.
Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future at Dewa, awarded the senior Emiratis of the Majlis. “Dewa’s event, at Majlis Al Rashidiya for senior citizens in partnership with the Community Development Authority, is a kind gesture to express Dewa’s appreciation to them. We are grateful for their unlimited generosity to society and the nation. We are proud of the active participation of our staff and their commitment to social responsibility, national and humanitarian duty. This underlines their commitment to their heritage and authentic Emirati values, while reflecting social cohesion,” said Bin Haidar.
