Seconds after the fireworks went off announcing the start of an iconic new decade 2020, Baby Joseph was born at a premier healthcare facility in Mohammad Bin Zayed City - Abu Dhabi.
The first baby to be born in 2020 arrived at 00:00, weighing in at 3170gms, to Syrian national parents - Romeo Sheha, 31 years old and his wife, Sally Hanna Habib, 28 years old.

The couple’s second child, the parents expressed joy that their child was the first to be born in the most anticipated year 2020, marking the year of preparation for UAE’s vision in the next 50 years.
The C-section delivery was successfully carried out on this special occasion with Bareen International Hospital, Abu Dhabi.
“Mother and baby are doing great and resting. We are delighted that our son Joseph was the first baby to be born in 2020 – I am sure he will be excited about the honour too.” said the cheerful father, Romeo Sheha.

The year 2020 began on a beautiful note for Emirati couple Salem Mubarak and Salma Esmaeel Mubarak who welcomed their baby boy on the first day of the New Year. Weighing about 3.5kg, baby Khalifa was born minutes after midnight, marking the 1st of January as a very special occasion for the delighted parents, besides being among the first few UAE babies born in the new year.

Speaking on the occasion, the baby’s father Salem Mubarak said: “I chose to call him Khalifa after our president, and for us this baby, like our two other sons is a blessing, Alhamdulillah. I don’t know how to express my happiness, but there’s no denying that we have begun the new year with a very happy feeling”.

Another baby was born to Emirati parents Ahmed Abdul Raheem and Nawal Hassan Saleh. They name the baby Hamda Ahmed Abdul Raheem. The baby weight 2.515 kg. Hamda was born at 00:17 hours.
Indian expat Vimal K. Nair shared the delightful moments with Gulf Today when he was told by the NMC Al Nahda staff that he is a father now.
Vimal named the baby Viaan Vimal. The bay boy was born at 12 15pm.
Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi welcomed 3 newborns within the first few hours of the year 2020. The tertiary healthcare facility of the hospital, under the supervision of dedicated doctors, delivered 2 girls and 1 boy after the stroke of midnight on the 1st of January 2020.
First to greet 2020 was Baby Hind Saif Al Jabri at 00.01 am and next to arrive were Baby AlHanof and Baby Tahnoon at 00.30 am, the twin Emirati babies.
The parents of all three babies were overjoyed to welcome their bundle of joy at the start of a brand-new year. Dr Fady Georges Hachem, Consultant - Obstetrics and Gynecology, was equally happy to be part of this extraordinary occasion.

Saif Abdul Al Jabri, the proud parent of Baby Hind Saif Al Jabri who was the first baby to be delivered in 2020 at Burjeel Hospital said: “The arrival of Baby Hind on the first day of the new year is truly special and it indeed doubled our joy.” Baby boy AlHanof and baby girl Tahnoon were welcomed by their Emirati parents Ms. Amal Saleh Ali Saeed Aljaberi and Mr. Mohammed Jassim Ahmed Alhosni at the early hours of the new year.
Mediclinic Parkview Hospital in Dubai celebrated the delivery of Alfie Fred George, born in the early hours of 2020 to be baby number 726 of those born in the hospital.

The baby was born to British national Emma Lisa Barber.
The doctor who supervised the delivery said: “We delivered a 3.7kg to a European family who are a resident in the UAE.”
The baby’s mother expressed her happiness at the arrival of her child in the New Year. The family also thanked the hospital administration and all staff for the care that surrounded the family and their child.
